The Akasha Yoga Teacher Training (200hr) is ideal for both serious students of Yoga and aspiring Yoga teachers. Our hands on approach will allow students to fully immerse themselves in this program and learn in an intimate setting amongst fellow students who share a mutual passion for yoga. The AYTT will provide an in-depth education in the theory and practice of Yoga and Yoga Teaching as well as provide the possibility for self-discovery and personal growth. Recognized by Yoga Alliance® certified 200hr curriculum, the AYTT program combines a broad spectrum of Yoga history and philosophy, the science and practice of Yoga and the methods and art of teaching, leaving you with the opportunity to deepen your personal practice and gain the expertise to teach safe and effective yoga classes.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

The Akasha Yoga Teacher Training (200hr) will use a building block approach enabling you to progressively and comprehensively learn the fundamental techniques, styles and theories of yoga while you gain the tools and skills of teaching. The knowledge you will develop through practice and guidance will give you a deeper understanding of Yoga, allowing for a greater mastery and expansion of your personal practice as well as the experience to confidently teach others. We will focus on teaching as an art form which can be applied to any style of Yoga that most inspires you so as to allow you to develop your unique and authentic teaching style and voice.

Emphasis will be placed on practical experience supported by seminars, lectures and discussions, teaching practicums as well as guidance and mentorship.

The AYTT will cover a full foundational spectrum of Yoga history, theories and practice. These will include: 

THE SCIENCES OF YOGA

  • History and philosophies of Yoga
  • Yoga in the modern day
    • Introduction to Ayurveda
    • Basic Sanskrit
    • A broad range of Yoga styles,disciplines and practices, including but not limited to:
      Iyengar, Ashtanga, Hatha, Vinyasa, Pranayama, Mediation, Restorative, Yin Yoga

THE PRACTICE OF YOGA

  • Asanas (Yoga Poses)
    – Alignment, Benefits, Contraindications
  • Applied Anatomy
  • Physiology
  • Chakras & Subtle Body
  • How to Improve your Personal Practice

TRAINING SCHEDULE

The AYTT (200 hour) consists of 9 immersive weekends as well as take home projects and assignments.

*Trainees will be required to maintain a consistent Yoga practice throughout the Training.

SUGGESTED EXPERIENCE

To take full advantage of the AYTT we recommend that you have at least one year of Yoga experience and an understanding of the basic Yoga poses and structure of a Yoga class. This is to ensure that you know you love Yoga and are excited to deepen your understanding and your practice and are ready for the commitment that this involves. You do not have to have an expert level personal practice. And you can participate with certain injuries.

The AYTT will be led by James Dylan accompanied by a select group of experienced Yoga teachers and experts in the fields of Yoga history and philosophy, anatomy and kinesiology.

TUITION

$2600 + tax – Register before August 1, 2018
$2800 + tax – Register before September 1, 2018
TUITION $3000 + tax ($500 deposit before September 15, 2016)
